      <image:title>About - Center Manager Wil Taylor leads a hike</image:title>
<image:caption>Celebrate the Bloom! is a free annual event held at Jennings Environmental Education Center on the last Saturday in July. Celebrating the state’s only prairie (and the eastern-most prairie in the US), the festival includes nature explorations (i.e. bird, butterfly and wildflower walks), engaging demonstrations, local artisans and food, and musical guests. The event is produced in cooperation with 3MJC (the friends group and funding partner of Jennings). Music is presented by Lonesome No More Productions/Dennis McCurdy. Jennings Environmental Education Center is one of several Pennsylvania state parks specifically dedicated to provide environmental education and interpretation to the community. A variety of programs are available for all ages. One of the park’s main features, the 20-acre prairie ecosystem, is home to distinctive native prairie plants and the endangered massasauga rattlesnake. The most noteworthy and spectacular prairie flower is the blazing star. Jennings was the first reserve established in Pennsylvania to protect an individual plant species and remains the only public and protected prairie in the Commonwealth. Jennings is located near Slippery Rock, PA, just over 1 hour from Pittsburgh, Erie, and Youngstown.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Originally from the Allegheny Forest, Jennie Kay Snyder is a veteran of the LA and Austin music scenes. Her performance style exuberant and soulful, and her voice has drawn comparisons to Emmylou Harris, Julie Miller and Iris Dement. The songwriter formerly known as Bruce Hoffman has reinvented himself and is now known as Cool Papa Boo. No matter what you call him, his songs are smart, quirky and literate — sometimes funny, sometimes sad, sometimes both at the same time, and always real. He uses stories and the tools of folk music to present his own unique vision of the world in which he lives.</image:caption>

The Foltz School has a rich history dating back to the late 1800s and visitors will have the opportunity to learn about its origins, its role in the local community, and how it operated as a one-room schoolhouse. In addition to the volunteer-led overviews, visitors will be able to engage in self-guided interactive activities, designed to provide a hands-on experience of what it was like to be a student in a one-room schoolhouse, and that reveal the differences and similarities between schooling yesterday and today. As visitors explore the schoolhouse, they will have the opportunity to view authentic artifacts from the time period, such as antique desks, textbooks, and school supplies. They will also be able to see how the building has been preserved and restored to maintain its historical integrity.</image:caption>
